Paradise Lost had Amorhis as opening act on one of their tours and at that time they didn't impress at all. They came across as any bleak growling wannabe band throwing in some random mellow parts here and there. This appeared as strange to us since Paradise Lost tend to bring quality acts along. Maybe Amorphis had a poor night, the result; we stayed clear of them, until now.

Since then Amorphis have picked up a new singer and obviously they have grown into something interesting well worth a listen. Actually many listenings!

Skyforger surprised us quite a bit. This album isn't any random death metal album, it has a lot of prog influences without loosing track of the melodies or being wimpy. The songs are have been carefully forged into something quite remarkable and magnificent. Picking up what could be folk music from the land of the thousand lakes, adding elements of prog, hard rock, a tiny bit death metal to the stew and we are served a fantastic album circling around the fifty songs of Pohjola and Kalevala.

The hardcore speed and death metal fans surely won't love this album but it grow on us with every listen and we bet Ukko is really, really proud of this album!
