Black most certainly is the new Black. If you release an album favouring Satan and you debut at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart something is definitely happening. If it is good is something else altogether. Ghost have really proven themselves with the new album Meliora, and even we get their greatness at this point in their career.Whether everything is lost and they are in pursuit of something better is beyond our understanding but Ghost sure craft some clever seducing music alright and they just keep evolving. What started out sounding like a mix between Mercyful Fate and Psychadelic music now stand firmly rooted in Hard Rock form the seventies. It is interesting and really easy to like because it doesn't resemble anything else around today.
Ghost actually get better for every album and if you look behind all the gimmicks of the band they are proficient musicians.
- The lyrics deal with the void that happens when there is no god, when there is no one there to help you. But even then, there will always be some fucker there to give you guidance. And the band is basically portrayed as the religious party that comes in there with a guiding hand. We offer the one place in the world that is spiritual.
- Meliora is more about the modern man and woman in their pursuit of purpose in life. It's hard to live in a society if you're not willing to buy that you are in a collective, yet usually in the Western world, there is a big disregard for individual responsibility.
