Verdict: 5

It's time to judge the new album by the US post grunge outfit PAPA ROACH. Metamorphosis is supposed to be something big, by a huge band.

But there are a few thing that We just can't wipe out of our minds.

The first one is when Jacoby Shaddix proudly shows his suburban family home where he has his project studio. Just like any other middle class kid dreaming about stardom.  Strutting around in sneakers and shorts, overwhelm by the fact that TV was showing up at his doorstep.

Lovehatetragedy dropped like a bomb and sent the dudes into the stratosphere in the wink of an eye and they weren't prepared. They had absolutely no street cred at all. The album truly had some good tunes on it and there weren't to many LIMP BIZKIT and LINKIN PARK around at the time.

The second incident that comes to mind is when Jacoby Shaddix guides the MTV viewers around on a summer festival and everyone, every single real rocker mocks the dude with the pimples. He simply was this kid, with a runny nose, that by mistake had ended up in the backstage area.

But PAPA ROACH have stuck to their guns and the style has become less rap and more alternative rock. There has been an occasional good song during the last ten years and it seems like they have a style today.

So now it's time for shaving. The new album Metamorphosis is here and how does it sound?

Well it starts out like MOTLEY CRUE on steroids and turn into FOO FIGHTER on a bad day. The end of the album is a lot better than the begining, "March out of the darkness" and "Into the light" are good compositions but they are covered under the rest of the shit here.

According to Wikipedia Jacoby Shaddix supposedly has said

"...the rapping's gone! I don't feel like rapping. I'm just over that...I just want to be a rocker. It's what I wanted to be when I was a kid"

Yeah right, you're still a kid, get back to your room and stay there.

"We're a band that tries to walk that line between metal, hardcore, punk rock and pop music, and we do our best at trying to make it all tasteful"

It's all cool but we think that DIO is cooler when he chases dragons around the stage than PAPA ROACH pretending to be rockers.

Over and out.
